S1000D Subject Matter Expert (SME)

The S1000D Subject Matter Expert (SME) at SYNAXIOM plays a crucial role in ensuring that our NIVOMAX platform and related software solutions are fully compliant with S1000D standards. This role involves guiding internal teams on best practices, supporting the implementation of S1000D within our software, and assisting customers with their migration to S1000D and NIVOMAX. The S1000D SME will work closely with customers to facilitate smooth transitions of their data into S1000D-compliant formats, helping them integrate their technical publications into the NIVOMAX environment. This is a key role for someone who thrives on making complex standards accessible and who is dedicated to driving successful S1000D implementations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the NIVOMAX platform and related software solutions are compliant with the S1000D standard, providing guidance and expertise to the development team on required specifications.
  • Assist in customer projects involving the migration of data to S1000D standards, ensuring that their technical publications are accurately converted and integrated within NIVOMAX.
  • Provide expert support during customer implementations, advising on best practices for S1000D data structures, workflows, and content management strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop S1000D-compliant features, tools, and functionalities within the NIVOMAX platform, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Conduct assessments of customer data, identifying necessary steps for S1000D compliance and facilitating seamless integration into the NIVOMAX platform.
  • Act as a liaison between SYNAXIOM and customers during the migration process, offering hands-on assistance and troubleshooting support as needed.
  • Stay current on updates to the S1000D standard and advise the company on necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training and documentation to support internal teams and customers in understanding and working with S1000D-compliant processes.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years working with S1000D standards in a technical publication environment, including experience with software compliance and data migration projects.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Information Management, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of the S1000D standard, including Data Modules, Common Source Database (CSDB) management, and Illustrated Parts Data (IPD).
    • Strong understanding of CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile) and Wiring data, with experience managing and integrating these data types within S1000D-compliant documents.
    • Experience with S1000D authoring and content management tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, Arbortext Editor, PTC Windchill, Contenta).
    • Familiarity with XML, SGML, and other related markup languages used in S1000D-compliant documents.
    • Understanding of data migration processes and tools, particularly related to moving data into S1000D-compliant formats.
